About:

The Tulane APAMSA Health Screening Program is a community outreach program that provides free blood pressure measurements and blood glucose monitoring services to members of the New Orleans community. In addition to measuring blood pressure and blood glucose, we educate patients on their respective vital readings and inform them of ways to maintain healthy practices and encourage visiting their primary care physicians. We hold monthly health screening events at the Hong Kong Food Market in the West Bank of New Orleans. We also participate in local community gatherings and festivals such as the Tet Festival, Taiwanese Mid-Autumn Festival, and at the NOLA Nite Market. Our clinic emphasizes providing care in various APIA communities within New Orleans, and to that end we encourage many of our multilingual volunteers, particularly in Vietnamese, Mandarin and Spanish, to participate in our health screenings to better cater to the needs of our target populations. Knowledge of one or more of these languages is not required to volunteer, though we ask those who are interested in serving as interpreters to reach out to us.
