About:
Patient Education is an opportunity for students to explain medical terminology, disease mechanisms, and answer questions patients have at various clinics around New Orleans. As clinicians knowledge of medicine grows, the more verbose they can become and, in the process, can lose sight of what patients are comprehending. Giving presentations allows for medical students to learn to better communicate with patients and teach people complex diseases in a digestible way. Patient health education offers knowledge as a tool to recognize concerning symptoms and implement preventative personal care for populations in the city who may not have as much understanding of medicine.
