About:

Bridge House is a long-term residential treatment program for men dealing with substance abuse issues. Our clinical and vocation-based programs validate each individual as an important member of our community while promoting personal responsibility in a life of recovery. Bridge House provides a continuum of care that ensures all clients referred are evaluated and provided services to meet their individual needs.

The Bridge House Student Run Preceptor Clinic focuses on providing intake H&Ps (history and physicals) for all newly arriving clients. Additionally, clients at Bridge House can request to see an attending physician for an acute need. Our preceptor clinic can write prescription refills for clients and provide referrals for additional care for primary care, mental health, medical specialty care, optical and dental services. Students will be split into teams of two T1/T2s with one T3/T4 to help with patient interviews and presentation of your case to the attending physician.

T1/T2 volunteers can expect to learn and practice how to take a detailed history, assess a chief complaint and properly document medical information in the format of a SOAP note. Volunteers will be expected to take vitals and conduct a physical exam with the help of a T3/T4. The T3/T4 will also help the T1/T2 volunteers practice making a patient assessment, coming up with a plan and making a formal presentation to an attending physician. Volunteers will then see the client again with the attending physician and assist the physician in carrying out any treatments, procedures, referrals, prescriptions or other necessary actions.
