About:

The Fleur de Vie Clinic partners with the NOELA Community Health Clinic to provide specialty care for the underserved communities in and around the New Orleans East area. The NOELA clinic is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides accessible, affordable, high quality, culturally competent community based primary, preventive, rehabilitative, and behavioral health care.

The Fleur de Vie Clinic seeks to complement the NOELA’s services with specialty care by finding medical specialists to volunteer and assess patients on select Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Some examples of the specialty clinics that were held in the past include dermatology, endocrinology, and nephrology. Depending on the patients needs, the doctors can prescribe medication and refer the patients to their main clinic for continued care.

Volunteers are expected to take vitals, write proper SOAP notes, conduct a myriad of physical exams, take a history, and present a history to upperclassmen, residents, and an attending physician. In addition, due to the language barriers, volunteers will learn about the intricacies of interacting with patients through interpreters.
