The FIT clinic’s provide health screenings and education to primarily justice impacted individuals and others living in the Greater New Orleans area. We would like to specifically bring attention to conditions that are prevalent in justice impacted communities. It is important to focus on this community as healthcare for incarcerated individuals is often poor and/or neglected. Therefore, we must take care of individuals who have been released, as well as the communities they come from. Further, the healthcare system is difficult for individuals who have been released to navigate. The FIT Clinic strives to connect individuals coming out of incarceration with healthcare resources. Moreover, we hope to build trust between justice impacted individuals and healthcare systems through our health education and health screening sessions.
